.NOW...PERSISTENT FOG AND LOW CLOUDS ARE COVERING THE NORTHERN SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY...MUCH OF THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY AND THE SACRAMENTO RIVER DELTA...THE CARQUINEZ STRAIT...AND ALONG THE WESTERN SIERRA FOOTHILLS. VISIBILITIES ARE ESPECIALLY LOW ACROSS THE MOTHER LODE ALONG HIGHWAY 49...AT ELEVATIONS BETWEEN 1000 AND 2000 FEET. PATCHES OF DENSE FOG IS ALSO REPORTED ACROSS THE NORTHERN SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY AND IN THE SACRAMENTO RIVER DELTA. VISIBILITIES IN THESE AREAS ARE NEAR 1/4 MILE...WITH LOCALIZED AREAS OF DENSE FOG REDUCING VISIBILITY TO LESS THAN 1/4 MILE. ELSEWHERE...VISIBILITIES ARE RESTRICTED...BUT ARE FOR THE MOST PART ABOVE 1/4 MILE. MOTORISTS TRAVELING ACROSS THE VALLEY AND IN THE FOOTHILLS THIS MORNING SHOULD BE PREPARED TO ENCOUNTER PATCHES OF DENSE FOG ESPECIALLY IN LOW LYING AREAS...AND NEAR BODIES OF WATER. THE FOG SHOULD BEGIN TO LIFT THIS AFTERNOON.
